(More customer reviews)I have the Fiskars version of this axe and am writing this review to tell you how to save your money. The Gerber-branded version of this axe bears the Fiskars stamp molded into the polyamide near the non-edge side of the head. Go to your local outdoor store and check it out if you don't believe me.
Picked up the Fiskars version at Lowe's for $20, and couldn't be more pleased. Excellent for making tinder, could be great for other things but I've only had it for a day. The only difference with the Gerber is that it does not come with the ballistic sheath (comes with a hard plastic safety cover/handle) but Gerber will send you the sheath if you ask nicely. It seems to fit well in the ice axe loops in my pack so I will probably just tape the blade if I take it camping.
My review only achieves four stars because the handle is rather slippery. Pick up a roll of hockey tape and wrap from the butt of the handle up, and you're still paying half price.
